- The Lady Dawgs traveled to Shoemaker for their final basketball game of the 2020-21 season on Friday night. The Lady Dawgs started strong with an early 7-2 lead but the Lady Wolves battled back to take the first quarter, 9-7. The Lady Dawgs would win the second quarter to bring the game to an 18-18 game at the half. Cove would win the third quarter 12-9, giving the Lady Dawgs a 30-27 lead going into the final quarter. The final quarter would find both teams playing hard and exchanging baskets. The Lady Dawgs would win 41-38. Statistics for the game: AZ Knotts had 11 pts, 8 rbds, 4 steals, 3 assists, & a blocked shot; Kyra Gaston added 11 pts, 10 rbds, 2 steaks, & a blocked shot; Alaura Gallups had 4 pts, 3 rbds, & a steal; Khia Horton had 4 pts, 2 assists, 3 rbds, & a steal; Ta’Shayla Marrie added 4 pts, 4 rbds, & 2 steals; Jasmine Sankey had 3 pts, 3 rbds, & a blocked shot; Samaria Bostick added a basket, a rbd, & a steal; Jade Chapman had a basket, 6 rbds, & a steal; Micah Anderson added 3 rbds. Cove was 29% from the field & shot 52% from the free throw line. The Lady Dawgs finished the season with a 5-9 record in district play. Harker Heights, Ellison, Temple, & Shoemaker will all be representing our district in the playoffs and we wish them best of luck. The Lady Dawgs are thankful for all the support they have been given in their season. We would also wish our seniors the best going forward and thankful for their commitment. Seniors are Micah Anderson, Alaura Gallups, Norvona Crook, A’Zariah Knotts, & Jasmine Sankey. Lady Dawgs look forward to a bright future as they will be returning 7 letterman and a strong JV squad.
