Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Dawgs Come Alive in Second Half


The Women’s Varsity soccer team scored 9 on Shoemaker Friday night after getting a slow start. The Lady Grey Wolves of Shoemaker held the Lady Dawgs scoreless for the first 36 minutes of the game. Scoring opened up with Haven Stevenson assisting Taylor MacDonald. The girls went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Dawgs came out of halftime on fire- scoring 6 goals within the first 10 minutes. Haven Stevenson was assisted by Alexis Honts in the first 37 seconds of the second half. Two minutes later Adora Lumpkin scored off of an assist by Taylor MacDonald. Only a minute later the Dawgs were back on the score board; Adora Lumpkin scored again, assisted by Stevenson. Four minutes after the fourth goal Stevenson netted her second goal of the night with Alexis Honts assisting. Two minutes later, Stevenson repaid Honts the favor by assisting her goal. Three minutes after Honts scored the sixth goal, Adora Lumpkin finished her hat trick with an assist by Kailey O’Donnell. Megan Hunter scored the 8th goal of the night off of a corner kick, unassisted. Scoring was quiet for the next 13 minutes. Stevenson recorded her fourth hat trick of the season off of a Megan Hunter assist. Sanyia Henegar and the defensive line get credit for the shutout.

The Lady Dawgs look to finish out the first round of district play on Tuesday. They face Temple at Bulldawg Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30pm.
